Wisbech St Mary are back in Thurlow Nunn League First Division North action at 15th-spot Framlingham Town on Saturday.

Basement side Saints did not have a weekend fixture and manager Stuart Beckett said the side has been busy training extensively.

Beckett said: “We were looking pretty good and pretty strong. Most of the work went in midweek but we also did some work on Saturday.

“We’re still waiting to get two signings over the line, We’re really close on those two. We just need the okay to get them signed. It’s a tough time of the season to be signing players.

“We’re not just looking for numbers, but looking to improve the quality of the squad.”

Framlingham Town lost 3-0 at home to King’s Lynn Town Reserves at the weekend.

Beckett said of that game: “I was hoping to go but the game got switched. They will want a reaction to that result.

“We lost to them but we should have beaten them at home.

“We will be looking forward to it.”

S Tech Premier – Cambs Uni Ladies 3 March Town Ladies 2

The Hares played their first game for a month and were pipped by Cambs Uni in an open and exciting game.

The Hares took the lead on 30 minutes when Josie Turner was put through and she lobbed the advancing keeper. Eleanor McLeish also hit the side netting before two quick Uni goals gave the opponents the lead 2-1 by half-time.

Debutant Tilly Sands had a shot well saved by the Uni goalkeeper and Emma Searle went close.

Uni went 3-1 up with a long range shot, which keeper Tori Sharpe did well to get a hand to, but it crept in.

A 30-yard screamer from Searle reduced the deficit to one and set up an exciting finish. The Hares almost equalised when another debutant and PoM Yaz Holmes had a glancing header just go wide.

The Ladies are away to Fulbourn Institute next Sunday.
