Four-some Wisbech racer Jacob primed for King’s Lynn stock car campaign
Wisbech star Jacob Downey will be looking to make it four wins and four meetings when the crowd pleasing 2L Stock Cars return to King’s Lynn on Saturday (5.30pm).
Downey (pictured, car 218) has enjoyed an explosive start to his 2017 campaign which has seen him record a victory in all three meetings he has competed in so far – even more astonishing, all the wins were on very different types of tracks and, whilst many drivers have specialised cars for shale and tar surfaces, Downey’s victories have all been achieved with one car.
Downey’s run of chequered flags started at Lynn a fortnight ago and was followed up a day later with another victory as part of the last 2L Stock Car meeting to ever take place at London’s Wimbledon Stadium. Last weekend he managed to go one better by taking a final victory instead of a heat win – no doubt the Wisbech flyer will be going all out to continue this amazing run.
The success of local drivers in the 2L Stock Cars has not been limited to Downey, with Wisbech ace Max Stott also making the long trip to Taunton in Somerset last Saturday which proved to be worthwhile when he took a hat-trick of wins, taking the chequered flag in both heats and the final, and Stott will also be in action at Lynn on Saturday night.
Thomas Parrin (Wisbech) will also be joining Downey and Stott in the 2L Stock Cars on Saturday night.
Racing also comes from the 1500cc Bangers and the Lady Bangers – both formulas will be making their first appearances of the season.
Aston Gibbons (Wisbech) is amongst the entry for the 1500cc Bangers whilst Lady Banger British Champion Helen Roberts will be in action in that formula.
