March athletes contest first race in Frostbite League at St Neots




The popular Frostbite League season started in St Neots at the weekend and March Athletics Club members performed amazingly.

The juniors continued from where they left off last year to finish third and the seniors were placed fifth - the same positions as the teams finished in the table last year.

The club had 38 runners representing the club in total.

Archie Bullman led the way for the juniors in sixth place followed by Liberty and Austin SIbthorp who continued a competitive sibling rivalry.

Rowan Whittlesey and Sasha Bland put forward strong showings to earn March AC the points needed to continue last year's momentum.

Andrew Jakeman was first home in 29:35 making a podium spot in the race.

Glen Watts followed closely behind in 29:44.

Serge Lambert and Steve Beasley were next across the line for the club in a close finish with just 30 seconds splitting the two. Henrik Stoner, Kai Stoner and Sandor Molnar completed the scoring for the males as they rounded up the top seven.

Michelle Prior was the leading lady for the club with another strong run.

Karen Patterson and Samantha Hodson were next home for the club scoring points for the team in 44:59 and 45:00.

Elsewhere, two club runners took on the Chester marathon.

Club coach Mike Blackledge finished the race with a time of 03:57:25. Fiona Graham put weeks of hard work to the test to earn an impressive time of 04:23:16.
