Fundraising page set up for Upwell Town player Ben Pearce after leg break in derby clash with Outwell Swifts Reserves
Our featured game this week was abandoned during the first half after a serious injury to one of the players.
Upwell Town led Outwell Swifts Reserves 2-0 in their bottom four Cambs County League 4B encounter when Upwell’s Ben Pearce suffered a nasty fibula break which will require surgery.
With Ben now unable to work, his club is organising a gofundme page to try to raise some money to make Christmas a bit brighter for him and his family. Some £40 has so far been raised towards the £600 target.
Sam Cubberley had scored both Town goals before the abandonment.
In the same division, March Academy Adults lost 2-1 at Alconbury Weston, Oliver Harris netting for Academy, and Chatteris Town A won 1-0 at Wisbech Town Acorns, Keith Webb scoring the only goal.
In Senior B, March Town Reserves still top the table despite a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Histon Reserves. The visitors took the lead with a great goal in the first half and the Hares lacked a cutting edge to equalise.
After the break, the home side improved and scored early on through Harry Powley from the edge of the box. With a draw looking the outcome, Histon launched the ball forward in the 96th minute, it was flicked on and smashed home for the winner.
Wimblington stay third, just three points behind March, after a 1-1 draw at Over Sports Reserves, Rory Parker the scorer.
Benwick Athletic (Christchurch) had a great 4-1 win at Lakenheath Casuals in 1B, James Harness netting twice to make it ten for the season and Lewis Harlow and David Jackson also on target. March Town A stay second from bottom after a 5-1 home drubbing to Alconbury.
Promotion-chasing Wisbech St Mary Reserves won 5-0 at Papworth in 2B, Jamie Leet, Roman Kovotics, Dale Browne, Tom Lindsey and Warren Jolly scoring while Ryan Shin was named man of the match.
Doddington Three Lions were thrashed 8-1 at home by Lakenheath Casuals in 3B, Dale Richardson scoring.
In the quarter-finals of the Peterborough Senior Cup, Leverington Sports suffered a 2-1 defeat at perennial title challengers Moulton Harrox, Dale Palmer getting their goal, and, with Deeping’s first time not in action, Tydd were well beaten, 8-2 at home to a very strong Deeping Rangers Reserves, Johnny Martin and Brad Easey scoring.
Chatteris Town triumphed 3-0 at Oakham United Reserves in the second round of the Peterborough Challenge Cup, Martin Saunders, Sam Bond and Richardson on target.
In the Cambs Lower Junior Cup, Leverington Sports Reserves lost 5-3 at home to Mepal and Sutton, Gary Hurrell netting twice and Swaley Stokes also scoring after Craig Bradshaw had been red-carded early in the game.
There was a disappointing Peterborough League Division One defeat for Long Sutton Athletic, beaten 3-2 at home by Farcet United , and in Division Two, Leverington Sports Reserves went down 7-3 at Park Farm Pumas Reserves, Robert Hitchcock, Marley Woods and sub Adam Conyard on target.
Promotion hopefuls Sutton Bridge United drew 3-3 at Warboys Town Reserves, Matt Eaton netting twice and Alex Clements-Limb also on target.
