Fyson’s Long Sutton derby defeat double
LSHC Men 2
Spalding 1sts 4
In this first league derby match for many years, Sutton played some good passing hockey but lost influential defender Tom Baguley to injury in a blank first half.
Spalding then went 3-0 up. The hosts were galvanised and pulled a goal back through a Josh Fyson short corner.
The introduction of coach Gary Hales added impetus to the attack. The visitors then scored another short corner and the home team responded with a fine Fyson drag flick.
Man of the Match: veteran keeper Albert Slator.
Sutton must hope they turn chances into goals at Felixstowe next Saturday.

Long Sutton’s development Fourths side introduced another 13-year-old to adult hockey in Josh Baker, against top of the table Horncastle.
