Chatteris fight ace Gill returning to the ring next week




Chatteris featherweight Jordan Gill returns to the ring next week, knowing that a win will get him a world ranking.

'The Thrill', who has won 25 of his 26 fights, fights former World Champion challenger Cesar Juarez, from Mexico, on Saturday, February 20, with the bout being shown on Sky TV.

Gill's opponents in the behind-closed-doors contest at the Matchroom HQ in Essex, has 19 knockouts from his 25 fights victories and has been defeated nine times, including his last two outings.

26-year-old Gill told the Citizen: “This is the hardest fight that I have had and with a win I will then get a world ranking.

"Juarez was involved in a possible fight of the year in 2015 with Nonito Donair (when competing for the vacant WBO World Super Bantam Title) and he is an all action fighter.”

Gill s taking the fight with less than two weeks' notice but has been in the gym for the last four months waiting for this chance: “I had to take this fight as I want to fulfil my ambition of being a World Champion and this was a fight that I had to take.”
