Chatteris featherweight Jordan Gill just two days away from his biggest fight
Chatteris fighter Jordan Gill is counting down the hours to the most important fight of his life.
'The Thrill' steps into the ring against two-time world champ Kiko Martinez at Wembley Arena on Saturday night, knowing that a victory will give him his own shot at the World Featherweight title.
Gill, 28, will be defending the European title he won so dramatically with a late knockout victory over Karm Guerfi in February.
The winner will step up to compete for Josh Warrington’s IBF World title.
Gill has a professional record of 27 wins, a draw and only one defeat, while Martinez, 36, has a record of 43 wins, eleven defeats and two draws.
The Spaniard lost his World title to Warrington in March, having won it against Kid Galahad in 2021. He also competed for the belt against Gary Allen Russell Jr in 2018 and in 2015 was IBF World Super Bantam champ after beating Scott Quigg.
Gill said: “This is the big fight that I have been waiting for. Martinez was the IBF champion in March and he is a legend of boxing. But a win will put me next in line for a world title shot.
"All I want to do is win. I have won International titles and European titles so the next stage is a World title.”
The fight starts around 9pm and you can stream it via the DAZN app and platform.
