James Licquorice impresses at King's Lynn banger racing and Callum Gill wins Grand National at Northampton
James Licquorice was in fantastic form in the 2L Bangers at King’s Lynn as he achieved a unique treble by picking up an entertainer award in every race he competed in.
However, Jack Maryon and Brad Bartram were both frustrated with mechanical problems and failed to feature in the top places. London’s Daniel Jordan won the meeting final, while Brad also had a disappointing night in the 1500cc Bangers.
Lennie Murkin will be pleased with his finishes from the back of the grid though, as he won the first heat and then finished in ninth place in the second before coming home in fourth in the final, won by Diss’ Deane Mayes.
Aston Gibbons and Joel Allen both took home entertainer awards following some great performances.
Dean Moat took a sixth place finish in a BriSCA style format of the 1300 stock cars event.
He qualified for the final with a runner-up finish to Sheffield’s Jordan Gay in his heat – Dean’s father John also qualified for the final.
World of Shale champion Tom Alsop also made the final with a seventh place finish in his heat.
Sonny Wright had to wait until the Consolation until he qualified for the feature race with an eighth place finish. Bad luck saw Lee Green and Barty Ketteringham fail to qualify. Wright then finished third.
Callum Gill continued his great start to the BriSCA F1 Stock Car season by winning the Grand National at Northampton last Saturday.
This has seen him win a race at each of the three meetings he has competed in this year, with his first ever win coming in the Grand National at King’s Lynn three weeks ago before he won his heat at Bradford the following week.
Tommy Parrin was also a race winner in the 2L Stock Cars at Northampton last Saturday.
There is a massive weekend coming up at King’s Lynn, featuring two big meetings with plenty of local drivers in action at the East Anglian Championships for 2L stock cars and junior bangers.
