More news, no ads

Chatteris fighter Jordan Gill moved a step closer to his world title dream this week when he was named mandatory challenger for the European title.

The 26-year-old WBA International featherweight will fight the current champion – Spain’s Andoni Gago – on a date to be set.

‘The Thrill’ has won 26 out of his 27 professional fights and thinks the European showdown will be held in July or August.

Gago has held the title since 2018 and last time drew with former two-time world title challenger Gavin McDonnell.

Gill said: “He is a tough opponent but I believe that with my slick boxing skills I will have too much for him and can’t wait to bring the title back to Chatteris.”
