Leverington U17 girls scored late to seal a point against Peterborough North Star
Leverington U17 girls left it late to secure a 2-2 draw with Peterborough North Star.
They went into the game missing captain Charlotte Wheatley and key player Sophia Wheatley, but still started the game well with various players playing out of position.
A lucky break led to Millie McClagish scoring the opening goal directly from a corner.
Peterborough came back strongly and created plenty of chances, forcing Deanna Boon into numerous stops.
Maggie Haime brought them level just before the break.
The second half seen Leverington struggle to get going in the cold and rainy conditions.
Peterborough then took the lead after some good build-up play led to them slotting into an empty net after a fantastic save from Boon.
However, a very late McClagish screamer sealed a hard-fought point.
She and Harmony Hanton were named players of the match.
