The first week of the second half of the season saw the fourth round of the Sleight Doubles Handicap and only two of the four matches were played.

The Wisbech Spartans fielded Allan Nicholls, Steve Goodale and Steve Ely against an Eagles side of Richard Mussett, Mark Pearman and Peter Pegg. There was little in the handicaps with Eagles having an advantage of between 0 and 2 points in each game. It was closely fought and produced three five-end games and three four-end games, with eight deuce ends.

Eagles started well, winning the first three games, but then despite some very close ends lost the next six. Goodale and Ely were the stars for Spartans with three solid wins.

Wisbech Wizards – Brett Heppenstall, Alan Ashberry and Grant Brightey – were against a Stingers side of David Patrick, Paul Reed and Tim Hines. Stingers had an advantage of three points in six games and five points in the other three. With this it was going to be tough for the Wizards.

The match produced just one five-end game and three four-end games. The best of the match was Heppenstall and Brightey against Patrick and Hines with a very close win for the Wizards 12-10, 13-11, 15-13. Stingers managed to salvage one point from the match with a win by Reed and Hines against Heppenstall and Brightey in four ends.

A postponed match in the Parker Shield Handicap was played between The Spinners and Wanderers – Andy Bayes, Ray Dolan and Mike Bradshaw for Spinners and Kevin Buck, John Buck and Irmantas Kukuris for Wanderers. Wanderers had to pull back 121 points over nine games, so it was going to be tough.

Heroes of the match were Bradshaw and Bayes. Bradshaw won two games 42-35 and 42-40 and Bayes won his 42-39. There was just one point in it, with the Spinners taking it 392-391.
