Hamilton at the double as Leverington Sports beat March Town Reserves in Cup




Kieran Hamilton was on target twice as Peterborough League Premier Division side Leverington Sports beat Cambs League 1A outfit March Town Reserves 4-1 in the quarter-final of the Cambs Cliff Bullen Challenge Cup.

Jake Ogden and Swaley Stokes also netted for Sports, with Kyle Sharman scoring for The Hares.

A rampant Leverington put the game to bed in the first 30 minutes when they raced into a 3-0 lead. March were much better after the break and pulled it back to 3-1 before the home side scored another late on.

Hares manager Kieran Daplyn said: “We were much better in the second half but unfortunately the first half was not acceptable. It’s the furthest the reserves have got in a tough cup so I am proud of that and now we focus on the league.”

In the Peterborough Premier Chatteris Town are second from bottom after losing 5-0 at home to leaders Uppingham Town.

Wisbech Town Reserves won 4-1 at Eunice in Division One, Robert Breide, Tyrone Omiyale, Stachys Scott and sub Tyler Sparrow scoring. Long Sutton Athletic are rock bottom, however, after losing 5-3 at Wittering Premiair Reserves. Whittlesey Athletic Development beat Warboys Town Reserves 3-2.

In Division Two, Tydd won 3-0 at Peterborough Polonia, Kai Scott-Henson opening the scoring with his 16th of the season in the 60th minute and sub Antony Bonnett adding two more in the 74th and 84th minutes.

Leverington Sports Reserves enjoyed a 2-1 win at Sutton Bridge United, Jake Lally opening the scoring for Bridge before Zack Patrick equalised with an outrageous chip from near the corner flag and sub Craig Bradshaw won and converted a penalty to give Sports the points.

Leverington Sports A drew 0-0 at Ramsey Town Reserves in Division Three and fellow strugglers Long Sutton Athletic Reserves lost 3-1 at high-flying South Lincolnshire Swifts, Lewis Horne on target for The Magpies.

In the Premier Division of the Cambs County League Wisbech St Mary won for only the third time this season, beating third-place Foxton 3-2. Cup-tied March Town player Toby Allen netted twice and Helkias Acheampong was also on the scoresheet, with keeper Alex Street saving a penalty.

Wimblington beat Thaxted Rangers 4-0 in Senior A, Rory Parker with two and Billy Munns and sub Gary Smith getting the others. Outwell Swifts stay top of 1B after a 2-1 win at March Town A, Helgi Danielsson scoring for the home team and Lee Punter and Spencer Singleterry netting for Swifts.

In the same division, struggling Benwick Athletic (Christchurch) were beaten 3-2 at home by The Eagle, David Jackson and Dillon Stevens scoring for the home side.

1B side Chatteris Town Reserves lost 3-0 at Huntingdon United in the quarter-final of the Creake Charity Shield. Wisbech St Mary Reserves won 5-2 at Manea United in an all-2B Cambs Junior Cup clash, Matthew Kent and Robert Munden scoring for United.

At the top of 3B Wisbech St Mary Development A were beaten 2-1 at home by Willingham Wolves, and in 4C Wisbech St Mary B stay top after winning 6-1 at Wisbech Town Acorns. Derren Singleton scored for Acorns, with Ricky Bowden, Ethan Goodale, Ricky Mason, Joe Whyborn and subs Daniel Dowdney and Robert Harris netting for Saints.

Second-place AEK United beat Saffron Walden Town A 2-1 in the third round of the Reg Haigh and Arthur Peck Cup, Dan Hempson getting both goals to take him to 22 for the season.

March Academy were beaten 2-1 at home by Wimblington Reserves, whose goals came from Dale Richardson and Jamie Whitehouse. Chatteris Town A lost 3-1 at Stretham Reserves, Luis Webb netting for The Lilies, and Outwell Swifts Reserves were beaten 4-2 at home by Huntingdon United Reserves, Liam Chapman and sub Daniel Cook scoring for Swifts.

In the Norfolk Junior Cup, Marshland Saints lost 4-3 at Hempnall Hempnall and in Division One of the North West Norfolk League, Marshland Saints Reserves lost 6-0 at home to Ingoldisthorpe Reserves.
