Wisbech St Mary did their Cambs County League Premier Division survival hopes the world of good with a 1-1 draw at leaders Over Sports on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Over took the lead after 63 minutes, only for Jake Gadsden to equalise for The Saints two minutes later with a shot from the half-way line. Gadsden was later sent off for a second yellow.

March Town Reserves slip to fourth in Senior A after a third defeat in four games, losing 2-1 at home to West Wratting Reserves, who jump to second.

After edging the first-half, The Hares conceded a sloppy goal soon after the break. It was quickly 2-0 when the visitors made a mistake when playing out from the back.

March rallied, and the returning Conor Bancans lobbed the keeper from 25 yards to pull one back, but the expected onslaught never happened.

Manager Kieran Daplyn said: “At times, we have been our worst enemy. We have been gifting teams goals all season, and we are not learning from it. We normally get away with it, but as of late it is becoming an Achilles heel.

“Every opportunity we have to close the gap and get us back in contention, we drop points. It’s lucky that everyone around us is also dropping points.”

There was also disappointment for Wimblington who drew 2-2 at bottom-of-the-table Bassingbourn, Rory Parker scoring twice to make it 14 for the season for him.

Leaders of 1B Outwell Swifts beat mid-table Eynesbury Rovers Reserves 3-1, with goals from Callum Moles, Ben Garner and Jack Brand.

Chatteris Town Reserves beat Needingworth United 4-2, with goals from Charlie Munns, Harry Powley, Alfie Richardson and sub Sam Bond. March Town United A won 2-0 at Witchford 96 Reserves and Benwick Athletic (Christchurch) were beaten 1-0 at Stretham.

Goals from Pawel Kalvzny and sub Jaden Carter were not enough for 2B outfit Wisbech St Mary Reserves as they went out of the Cambridgeshire Junior Cup, 3-2 at 1A side Gamlingay United.

In 2B, Manea United move out of the bottom two and leapfrog Burwell after beating their visitors 3-2, Freddie Bishop, Josh Brittin and Callum Butcher netting.

Wisbech St Mary Development A’s 3B title push suffered a slight blow when they drew 2-2 at mid-table Bluntisham Rangers Reserves, Callum Taylor netting twice for Saints to take him to 21 goals for the season.

AEK United of Guyhirn were knocked off the 4C top spot after being held 1-1 at home to Huntingdon United Reserves, Wisbech St Mary B taking their place by beating Mepal and Sutton Reserves 6-3 at home, Adam Key netting twice to take him to 34 goals this season and Ethan Goodale, Gary Hague and subs Paul Richardson and James Spittlehouse also on target.
