March Town pegged back by Northampton O.N.Chenecks in United Counties League Premier Division South

Disappointed Ash Taylor felt it was “two points dropped” after being held 1-1 at home by Northampton O.N.Chenecks on Saturday.

The Hares are still fourth in the United Counties League Premier South but the chasing park is closing with six clubs battling it out for the final two play-off places.

Taylor said: "I'd say it was two points dropped if I am being honest.

"When you are at home you want to try to use it to your advantage. This season at home we've tended to be really strong, but today we haven't done enough.

"We had a couple of opportunities at the end but we didn't make them count and I can't say that we put them under loads and loads of pressure.

"It was a difficult game. The pitch was difficult and bobbly and it was hard for both teams to pass the ball. It was a bit of a battle, playing in areas, and trying to land on second balls."

Jack Saunders gave The Hares a 65th-minute lead, only for the visitors to hit back five minutes later through Jacob Cox.

With six games remaining, Ash Taylor’s men are three points clear of Newport Pagnell Town, who sit in sixth, just outside the play-off places, having played a game more.

Both goals came from throw-ins and boss Taylor believes it is one area where the Hares have improved this season.

"Jack's timing to get there was excellent and it was a composed finish.

"It's a part of our game that has got better whereas our composure and link-up play around the box wasn't so good so that's something we need to work on."

This weekend, March entertain 16th-place Easington Sports.

"We have a habit of making it difficult for ourselves and we have six games to go now," said Taylor.

"It's about having a good training session on Wednesday, regaining our focus and putting it right on Saturday."
