March Town host Lakenheath in pre-season friendly on the back of Soham Town Rangers win

March Town manager Ash Taylor is happy with how his squad is coming together and the firepower at his disposal.

The Hares have been scoring goals for fun in pre-season and are hoping to continue that trend when they host Lakenheath at the GER tonight.

Boss Taylor said: "The one thing we've done in pre-season so far is score goals. We've now scored four, five, three and another five, so as far as what we are looking like at the top end of the pitch it is looking really exciting.

"We brought in Dotty (Dan Cotton) who has been scoring goals and he's made a really good start at the club and Taity (Ben Tait) got a goal today as well so it's good to see the new signings scoring.

"That's why we brought them here, to try to add more goals to the team.

"Pre-season is pre-season, we don't get carried away. There's certain things we want to work on and the vibe is good in the dressing room.

"We bring in players who we feel fit well into the group with their personality and character and lads we've brought in have fitted in well.

"There's a really good morale but it's up to me to make sure that we don't get too ahead of ourselves and get over-confident because first half today I felt we were over confident."

The Hares were forced to come from two goals down at half-time on Saturday before getting their hands on the BKD Memorial Trophy.

Ben Seymour-Shove (2), Cotton and Tait were all on the scoresheet as March put a poor first-half display behind them to record a 5-2 win.

"The first half we were nowhere near good enough," said Taylor.

"We had a chat before the game about the mentality going into games and the first half today we just cruised and thought we were the better team than Soham.

"They (Soham) wanted it more. They were winning first and second balls and credit to them as they are a well-organised side and we just couldn't figure it out.

"We had a good chat at half-time and second half our levels were a lot more what I expected. We had to change things tactically a little bit and understand where the space was to exploit with them.

"The only positive from the first half is doing that now because we can't start games like that once the season gets here because if we do we'll lose points."

Taylor has bolstered his squad further with the additions of Ben Tait from Godmanchester Rovers and Andre Williams who arrives from near-neighbours Wisbech Town.

Williams has also played for the likes of St Neots Town FC, PSL, Pinchbeck United.

On the two new faces, Taylor said: "Andre is someone I’ve known about for a while and he’s fitted into the group perfectly. "Wherever he’s been he’s scored goals and his direct approach, speed and end product was something that this team needs.

"He’s an exciting player who works hard for the team and I look forward to seeing him score goals in a Hares shirt.

"Taity is someone whenever he’s played against us he’s always caused us problems and been a threat.

"His energy and enthusiasm for the game is infectious for the team and he’s also a goal-scoring midfielder.

"I’m looking forward to working with him and he’s already made an impact in the pre-season games he’s played."
