March boss looks to strengthen squad ahead of FA Vase trip to Coggeshall
March Town boss Ash Taylor has not ruled out further new signings as the club looks to maintain its promotion push in the United Counties League Premier Division South.
The Hares romped to victory over bottom team GNG Oadby Town at the weekend, but Taylor isn't resting on his laurels as he looks to take the club one step further than the play-offs this term.
Taylor said: "I don't want players getting too comfortable and I am looking at making one or two additions, but they have to be the right type of person for this football club."
Florian Guimdo Tsaguim gave The Hares a third-minute lead and it was 2-0 at the break after Harry Biggs’ 23rd-minute effort.
William Clarke pulled one back for The Poachers after 59 minutes but goals in the 71st minute by sub Joshua Burrows and four minutes from time by Jack Saunders wrapped up the win.
"It was a really good win and we started the game so quickly," said the March Town boss.
"We could have scored even more goals today. We scored four and created so many other chances so I've got to be pleased with that."
Tsagium was back playing for the Hares after being recalled by Biggleswade for their big midweek FA Cup game against York City.
"We reached an agreement with Biggleswade who are a Step 3 side at the start of the season," said Taylor.
"If Biggleswade want Flo and he's going to play we are not going to stand in his way as we want him to play at the highest level possible.
"The one thing we can do is give him games and lots of minutes but ultimately it's down to the player himself."
Saunders and youngster Harry Biggs, who has recently forced himself into the first-team reckoning, came in for special praise from Taylor after Saturday's win.
"Jack is like my James Milner," he said.
"He plays in so many different positions and wherever he plays he never moans. Today he had a holding midfield role and he did it excellently.
"His energy and enthusiasm for the game is what this team needs and he was rewarded with a goal as well."
On 18-year-old Biggs, Taylor added: "He's a kid we've had in training with us since the age of 15. We sent him out to Whittelsey at Step 6 last season and he played lots of games for them.
"He came back in the summer and looked a lot stronger, so it was a good move by us as a club to send him out last year.
"This season he has been excellent. He's had to be patient but on Tuesday he took his opportunity superbly and created goals and today he does what he does.
"He has got some quality. The next challenge for him now is whether he can he do it week-in and week-out for us where I can't take him out of the team?
March now focus on their important FA Vase first-round game at Coggeshall Town on Saturday.
The Seedgrowers are a step below March in the non-league pyramid and are currently in fourth place in Thurlow Nunn First Division South.
"I looking forward to the FA Vase," admitted Taylor.
"I know there's a lot of fans going as I mentioned last week. Let's go there, make a lot of noise and try to progress to the next round.
"We know it isn't going to be easy. Just because they are a Step 6 side doesn't mean we are going to go there and win the game, we've got to do things right."
