Fenland football round-up: Huge comeback win for March over Newport Pagnell while Whittlesey Athletic beat Holland and Parson Drove lose at Diss




March Town came from behind to consolidate their place in the play-off places while Whittlesey Athletic won and Parson Drove lost other games across the region.

The Hares were forced to come from behind in their United Counties League Premier Division clash at home against Newport Pagnell this afternoon.

March's tenth-placed visitors led at the break thanks to a goal from Nabil Shariff.

The home side made a triple change going into the second half and it had the desired effect with two of the three substitutions on the scoresheet against The Swans.

Toby Allen tapped home an equaliser from close range in the 69th minute before Craig Gillies fired home a penalty 12 minutes later to hand the home side all three points.

Ash Taylor's side remain fourth in the league table, six points behind third-placed Rugby Town, but four points clear of Eynesbury Rovers in sixth.

In the Thurlow Nunn Furst Division North, Whittlesey Athletic maintained their improved form by picking up an eighth home win out of a possible 10 against mid-table Holland.

Jack Carter registered the only goal of the game at the Danzen Logistics Stadium as the home side climbed two places up to 14th in the league table.

There was no such joy for Parson Drove who were beaten 1-0 on their travels at Diss Town.

George Erith headed home a Harry Gagen free-kick five minutes into the second half to give the Tangerines all three points.

Parson Drove slip a place to 11th in the table.

Next weekend, March Town host Histon in the UCL Premier Division South while Wisbech Town travel to play-off-chasing Boston Town in the Premier Division North.

In the Thurlow Nunn First Division North, Parson Drove host struggling Haverhill Borough while Whittlesey Athletic travel to Wivenhoe Town who sit just below them in the table.
