Magic’s moment seals the points for March Town again and Wisbech Town and Parson Drove also victorious
There were victories for all three Fenland senior sides in action today, with March Town, Parson Drove and Wisbech Town all winning at home.
In the United Counties League Premier Division South, March stay in third place after a 1-0 victory over lowly Desborough Town, watched by a healthy crowd of 280. New signing from Downham Town Magic Smalls scored the winner in the 85th minute, the second time in five days he has netted the decisive goal for the Hares.
Wisbech Town beat Boston Town 3-1 at home in the United Counties League Premier North in front of 155 fans. The Fenmen took the lead after six minutes through Stamford loanee Jon Challinor, only for Jordan Nuttell to equalise for the Poachers from the re-start.
Challinor made it 2-1 after 24 minutes and sub Rob Conyard wrapped up the scoring in the third minute of second-half added time from the penalty spot. Veteran striker Michael Frew was carried off in the first half with a gash on his leg which required hospital treatment.
In the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League First Division North Parson Drove are just three points from the play-off places after beating Leiston U23s 4-0 at home.
On Tuesday evening, March Town beat Whittlesey Athletic 2-1 at home in the Hinchingbrooke Cup after trailing at the break, Danny Emmington scoring a wonderful 55th minute free kick and Magic Smalls netting his first for the club 20 minutes later. Parson Drove lost 7-1 at Potton United in the same competition.
Next Saturday Wisbech have a league game at Heanor Town, March travel to play sixth place St Neots Town and Parson Drove host leaders Holland.
