March Town game abandoned after injury, Wisbech Town lose at home and Parson Drove get valuable away point




March Town's match against Rothwell Corinthians was abandoned with just minutes remaining this afternoon after a serious injury to midfielder Eoin McQuaid.

McQuaid sustained a suspected broken rib and was taken away by ambulance and the match abandoned, with high-flying March losing 2-1 to opponents who started the day in the United Counties League Premier Division South relegation area.

Corinthians had taken a first half lead, Jack Friend equalised for The Hares in the 56th minute, but the visitors had taken the lead again before the game was called off.

It is not yet known whether the results will stand. The referee told March officials it would not, but they believed results after 75 minutes still stand.

In the United Counties League Premier Division North, Wisbech Town were beaten 4-2 at home to Kimberley Miners Welfare. Nathan Banton scored the opener for the visitors after four minutes and that's the way it stayed up to half time.

Tom Jones made it 2-0 after 47th minute and in the 53rd minute it was 3-0, James Shaw scoring. Captain Kegan Everington was then sent off for two yellow cards within a minute, and for the third home game on the trot, Wisbech performed better with 10 men.

Sub George Zeurner pulled one back in the 68th minute, Aaron Coyle made it 4-1 to Welfare in the 86th but Zeurner netted again for Wisbech in the 89th. Former Fenman Conor Green was a sub for Kimberley.

Parson Drove have made two signings this week, keeper Charlie Congreve coming in from March and Thomas McDermott joining from Swaffham. Both played as third from bottom Drove secured a 0-0 draw at 10th placed Huntingdon Town in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North.
