Assistant Hares boss Simon Roberts felt his side weren't quite at their best against their Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division opponents.

An own goal gave his side a 1-0 lead at the interval before further goals from Andre Williams and Dan Cotton sealed a 3-0 win and the club's passage into the next round.

"We didn't play well so to get a 3-0 win when we've been miles off our best is good," said Roberts after the game.

"Jonah (Gill) was outstanding today and hoe he has managed to pull off that first save is beyond me. Had that gone in to make it 1-1 then they would have had the momentum.

"I thought in the second half we controlled possession even though their forwards were very lively.

"It was a below-par performance and Ash (Taylor) told the players that at half-time.

"To go on a run in the FA Vase would be a dram for this football club and we all know the financial rewards that a good run brings.

"It's a big dream so why not dream it? On our day we are as good as anyone else at this level."

March Town: Gill, Green, Brumby, Withers, Emmington (Bucciero), Foy (Burrows), Tsagium, Tait (Biggs), Gillies (Saunders), Cotton, Williams.

Tomorrow night, March Town begin their defence of the Hinchingbrooke Cup with a trip to Netherton United before a trip to Daventry Town in the UCL South on Saturday.

Roberts is looking forward to the trip to his former club on Tuesday, saying: "It was where my football career started and I was at Netherton almost 11 years."
