March Town set eyes on Woodbridge Town clash after beating Newmarket Town in Thurlow Nunn Premier Division
March Town's squad has earned a weekend off after a scintillating run of form, according to manager Ashley Taylor.
The Hares moved up to sixth in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division table after a 2-0 win against Newmarket Town on Saturday.
The result means they have now gone eleven games unbeaten in the league, with their last defeat coming at the end of October to leaders Gorleston.
A Jack Friend penalty and a Benjamin Matthews finish sealed the three points at the weekend, and Taylor was delighted.
He said: "I'm really happy with the performance. We obviously played them a few weeks back in the cup and I think we got a few things wrong tactically that night, but we had a chance to watch the game and we thought we could improve.
"We executed the game plan that we had to perfection. We did a training session based on it, the lads took everything on board and I was very pleased with the 2-0 win."
Taylor was pleased with the build-up to the Hares' opening goal, with a brilliant line-breaking pass from Craig Gillies setting off a move that see Friend taken out by Newmarket's goalkeeper.
The in-form striker dusted himself off to slot home from the spot.
Matthews then converted first-time from a Jack Saunders cross to double their advantage.
"I was really happy for Jack on Saturday, because he's been out for a while and had to build himself back up with the reserves," Taylor added.
"It was his first 90 minutes for a while and he was very influential on the game."
Sitting sixth and just two points behind Walsham Le Willows in fifth spot, the Hares boss insists he will stick to his mantra of not setting a specific target.
Instead, he wants his players to match the standards they have set since he joined the club. In the meantime, March have a free week before they host Woodbridge Town on February 19.
"Over the last 13 games, we are top in the form table," he said.
"We want to try and keep to that level. The lads have been fantastic - they deserve all the credit. With the games we have left, we want to maintain our position in that form table.
"We're giving the boys Saturday off to enjoy some family time and to enjoy themselves over the weekend.
"They deserve a little break, and then we'll get back to training on Tuesday ahead of the Woodbridge game."
