March Town Ladies beat Brampton Ladies in the Brian Lake Memorial match
March Town Ladies played against Brampton Ladies in their annual Brian Lake Memorial match on Sunday.
Both sides were raising money for Cancer Research, with the Hares emerging as 3-1 winners after a competitive game.
In stifling heat, Brampton took an early lead after just seven minutes.
Sparked into action, March forced the opposition goalkeeper into a number of good saves before an excellent run from full back Ellie Godley set up Adele Munday to equalise.
Peggy Thurlby then made a good save with her feet just before the break.
A lively start to the second half seen Eleanor McLeish play an excellent ball to Abby Grist, who scored at the second attempt after seeing her first effort saved.
The same players linked up to produce The Hares' third goal, putting them in a much more comfortable position for the closing stages.
McLeish played a brilliant ball through the Brampton defence, and Grist latched onto it to fire home from close range.
There were a number of positives for March to take from the game, which included Sydney Davis playing her first game for ten months.
16-year-old Cassie Houghton made her debut and played extremely well, while Tahleya Roncari was named the player of the match.
Over £150 was raised on the day, with all proceeds going to charity.
