March top the table after five-star showing, but Wisbech thrashed and Parson Drove lose a thriller




March Town continued their great start to life in the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division South this afternoon with a thumping 5-0 win over previously unbeaten Coventry United.

The Hares are now top of the table with three wins out of three. Young Luis Cowie opened the scoring today in front of a crowd of 268, and Efraim Romanos made it 2-0 seven minutes later.

Cowie got his second on 33 minutes, Jack Friend made it 4-0 eight minutes from the end and sub Rob Conyard wrapped up the win in added on time.

After winning three league and cup games at home, Wisbech Town suffered their second away defeat from two when they crashed 5-0 at Loughborough Students this afternoon in the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division North.

It was not until the 45th minute that the Leicestershire side took the lead, Dylan Edwards doing the damage in front of an attendance of 140, but Luke Martin made it 2-0 in the opening seconds of the second half and in the 48th minute Finlay Brennan made it three.

It was 4-0 through William Mycroft-Edwards in the 61st minute and Joe Lloyd completed the win seven minutes later.

In the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North, Parson Drove were beaten 3-2 at home to Haverhill Borough (match report here).

The visitors took the lead after 13 minutes direct from a corner, just seconds after Max Flintoft in the home goal had saved a penalty. It was 2-0 after 22 minutes when Ollie Santry headed home from a free kick.

It looked all over when Billy Bush scored the third in the 59th minute, but back came Arran Duke's men (see his reaction here), with Evader Jose scoring from the edge of the box three minutes later and sub Connor Pilbeam heading in a second 13 minutes from time.

And with just two minutes left, Kyial West was brought down in the box, but missed his penalty and pushed the rebound wide.
