March victorious, Wisbech draw and Parson Drove defeated
There was a win, a draw and a defeat for Fenland's senior football sides in action this afternoon (Saturday).
March Town pulled off a great 3-1 victory at Walsham Le Willows, Wisbech Town earned a point from a battling draw at home to Spalding United, but Parson Drove lost 2-0 at home to UEA.
In the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Premier Division, March pulled off their first away win of the season in Ash Taylor's first game as permanent manager.
The Hares are up to 11th after inflicting only a second home defeat of the season on fourth place Walsham. Jack Frohawk put March ahead in the opening minutes with a good finish, and an own goal made it 2-0 at half time.
Walsham scored after the break but Jack Friend's 15th goal of the season sealed victory for March.
Wisbech Town are out of the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midland Division relegation places after a battling 0-0 home draw against eighth placed Spalding United.
After a dull first half, Sam Murphy had two decent chances to score for Brett Whaley's men, while home keeper Luke Pearson denied gilt-edged efforts from Ben Stakie and former Fenmen Jordan Macleod.
In the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League First Division North, injury-ravaged Parson Drove are 12th after losing 2-0 at home to seventh placed UEA, also having a player sent off. In the same division, Wisbech St Mary were without a game today.
