March field 29 runners in virtual Frostbite event
This weekend was the second of this year’s virtual Frostbite League, the inter-club winter friendly competition.
March Athletic Club members were delighted to have achieved fifth position out of the 16 teams in the league after last month’s first race, so the club was fired up for the second race of the series.
Club runners have a five-mile course to run, while juniors run 1.5 miles.
The seniors fielded 29 runners who had to contend with some freezing cold rain.
First place went to Luke Brown in an incredible 28:13 and first lady home was Emma Tuck in a very strong 31:31. The club will find out later in the week where they finished overall.
First junior runner home was Luke Cumbridge in 9:58. A great run from junior Fynn Barber, still too young for his time to count as he is under nine, saw him complete his 1.5 miles in 16:16.
Mike Blackledge also completed the Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon on Sunday, accompanied by Robin Wright.
Mike finished in 1:51:40 and Robin in 1:28:32. Mike is in training for the Virtual Edinburgh Marathon and last weekend he took on the Great Welsh Half Marathon, which he completed in 1:52:35
