Fenland drivers look to impress at King's Lynn stock car version of British Open Team Championship

Hot on the heals of the successful Unlimited Banger Icebreaker a couple of weeks ago, racing returns to the Adrian Flux Arena this week.

And the 1500c bangers will be contesting their version of the famous British Open Team Championship.

Another fully booked event is on the cards – and after success for local drivers at the Unlimited Icebreaker, hopes will be high.

James Licquorice was in outstanding form at that event, where his superb performance was instrumental in guiding the Dover Boys into second place in the Entertainer Points.

He will be looking to go one better, although with the Dover Boys not fielding a team he has joined up with Saloon Stock Car multi champion Deane Mayes to be part of his THP 7 squad – something Licquorice will no doubt be really looking forward to.

Team TKC will start the meeting as very short odd favourites for the main points title. The team contains three of Fenland’s most successful drivers in the shape of father and son duo Russell and Callum Gill together with Lennie Murkin.

Callum is a multi champion and has recently been enjoying a successful stint in BriSCA F1 Stock Cars, but with no BriSCA racing during the winter, he is relishing the chance to get back into the Bangers.

Murkin made a hugely successful transition into National Bangers from Junior Bangers and was part of the winning Ellis Factory team at last February’s 1500cc Banger Icebreaker – with his performance seeing him almost single handedly win the competition for his team.

With Wokingham hot shot Harvey Webb also being in this team, they will be very difficult to beat.

The Fishermen team contains four local drivers in the shape of Stevie Hawes, Chucky Pegg, Steve Nicholls and Jake McClagish.

Fans can surely expect this team to be challenging for the entertainer points.
