Wisbech Ladies 2nds 8 Long Sutton II 1

Wisbech started the game slowly, put under pressure by a very surprised Sutton side.

When Wisbech got into their game the goals started to flow. The home side are now looking more confident and stronger on the ball each week in all areas of the pitch – from the goalkeeper to the forwards.

Some very good runs down the flanks to the back line with crosses in continually through the game.

Goals rolled in via Emma Baker 2, Lou Sandall 2, Andrea Eggleton 2, Oliwia Bolka 1 and Sue “Swampy” Robinson 1, resulting from some good movement of the ball and working well together.

Long Sutton did get a consolation goal from a short corner.

Nevertheless Wisbech are now looking good and players are showing what they are made of in the team.

Long Sutton’s goalkeeper was very strong and without her Wisbech’s tally of goals would have been more.

PoM: Lou Walker & Lucy Prior.

Bury St Edmunds 1

Wisbech started the game in a Sunday leisurely fashion.

Seeing Bury St Edmunds score after six minutes, Wisbech started to get themselves slowly back into the game and got the equaliser from Ellie Padmore after 20 minutes.

The game ebbed and flowed with lively aggressive attacks with no further chances being taken up to half-time.

After an energetic half-time team talk Wisbech finally took a stranglehold on the game, scoring first through Izzy Pope on the volley before Laura Overland slammed in a short corner from the top of the D, putting Wisbech out of sight.

Wisbech continued to dominate, allowing Bury very few chances.
