Sam Pritchard hits Wisbech Ladies 2nds hockey hat-trick versus Peterborough 4ths
Wisbech Ladies 2nds 5 Peterborough 4’s 1
With the conditions not looking good for this early morning game the pitch was also very tricky with puddles developing.
Wisbech came out strong and were first to score from Sam Pritchard with some good quick unselfish passing in front of goal.
The pitch seemed to get worse but this did not stop Wisbech, moving the ball strongly. Pritchard’s second goal came rather like the first with the forwards working well together. Following this a lack of concentration at the back gave Peterborough a goal.
Wisbech were now starting to click together. Emma Baker and Oliwia Bolka added to the score sheet with good movement of the ball between them and Pritchard secured her hat-trick, making her player of the match.
Wisbech are now starting to play as a team, working very well together, moving the ball around and gaining confidence all the time.
Roll on next weekend in another derby with Long Sutton and hopefully better conditions.
PoM: Sam Pritchard.
Wisbech Ladies 3rds 1
Huntingdon II 4
In this mid-table clash, Huntingdon started quickly and found the back of the net.
Wisbech responded immediately with some quick passing in midfield and Andrea Eggleton connected to score. Huntingdon managed to score two further goals before half-time.
A fourth goal in the second half secured the points for the opposition, but Wisbech keeper Helen Pentelow was instrumental in ensuring Huntingdon were stopped from scoring any further goals. Louise Cooper made her debut playing alongside teenage daughter Lily.
Next weekend sees the first return fixture against top-of-the-table Newmarket Ladies 3rds.
PoM: Helen Pentelow.
