Hot Manea Rod moves up to professional dragster class
Manea drag racer Rod Harrison is going to run the 2016 season in Top Alcohol Dragster, this is a professional class to which all the FIA rounds will be fully televised.
This class entails competing at various European tracks throughout the summer with a testing session taking place over the Easter Bank Holiday at Santa Pod Raceway.
Rod will be driving his Mike Boss 3000hp dragster, powered by a BAE V8 supercharged engine running on pure alcohol. This machine can cover the 1/4 mile from a standing start in under six seconds and at speeds in excess of 275mph.
The car is capable of producing a 0-60 foot in 0.9 seconds, which in real terms is 0-100mph in less than 1 second. Son Karl, together with other crew members, have worked over the winter preparing and up dating the engine to be able to run these numbers. Karl will remain the team’s crew chief, whilst Rod’s wife Kim will be lining him up on the start line.
Rod explained: “You can only run these machines if you have a fully dedicated crew. These guys and girls live in various parts of the country and never let me down, they truly are the best.”
Rod also gets full support from his wife and the rest of his family.
Rod has obtained one sponsor for this season, NUA Motors/Entertainment, and he greatly appreciates their financial help, but to enable the team to enter more rounds of the European Tour they are looking for further sponsors.
