Jevan leads Fenland and March runners home at Cambridge Half

Fenland Running Club’s members collectively clocked up just over 255 racing miles on Sunday when 16 completed the 13.1 miles of the Cambridge City Half Marathon.

Two finished in the Half Marathon with 1,280 runners at the MK Festival of Running in Milton Keynes where Paul Arnold added an extra 20 in the 20-mile race with 819 runners.

In Cambridge there was a cold wind and persistent rain at the start with the huge field of almost 7,000 runners but the weather relented about three miles in.

First man home for FRC was Tim Chapman in a quick time of 1:30:48, followed closely by Chris Rose running his first Half. Also completing their first Half Marathons were Melissa Milward and Jane Clarke.

First lady home was Bethan Everson who has recently been dogged with injuries. Club coach Sarah Gauvin bagged a PB as did three other ladies: Carol Bowett, Denise Griffin and Hannah Ryan.

l Some 26 runners from March AC completed the Cambridge Half Marathon. Over 8,000 runners took part in the event. Eight of the club’s runners did personal best times. Jevan Robertson was first home for the club in an impressive time of 1.21.43. Leading the the club’s strong ladies team home was Geraldine Larham in 1.29.04.
