March make progress in Knockout Cup

March Town United progressed to the second round of the Thurlow Nunn League First Division Knockout Cup with a 3-2 home victory against King's Lynn Reserves on Tuesday night.

Jack Friend scored all three goals for the Hares at the GER and his hat-trick takes him to a total of 93 goals in 126 games.

Friend opened the scoring from the penalty spot after five minutes, after a handball, and dinked the second over the visiting keeper after 16 minutes. Charlie Rudland pulled one back for the Linnets after 28 minutes and when Kieron Wingfield equalised with seven minutes to go it was all square.

However, Friend had the last laugh, tapping in the winner at the far post with just three minutes remaining.
