March Town Ladies were beat by Peterborough Northern Star Reserves in the Women's Premier Division
March Town Ladies slipped to a disappointing 9-3 defeat against Peterborough Northern Star Ladies Reserves at the weekend.
A poor start to the game from te home side meant it was effectively over as a contest before it had really begun.
After a quick water break was deemed necessary due to high temperatures, The Hares were able to regroup and produced a much better performance from thereon in.
An excellent one-two between Abby Grist and Eliseia Cuicuilette led to the former pulling a goal back from close range, before an Emma Searle pass put Grist through to lob the opposition goalkeeper and reduce the scoreline to 6-2 at half-time.
The Northern Star ladies scored three more times in the second half before Ewe Jercek slotted home for a consolation. Adele Munday had earlier struck the crossbar.
Coach Davis said: “We were playing one of the top teams and after our crazy start we woke up. It was a decent performance. It’s just a shame about the opening 20 minutes of the game”.
The result means March stay in tenth spot of the Womens Premiership Division, five points behind Fulbourn Insititute Bluebirds in ninth.
The Hares have just one more league game left to play of their 2020/21 campaign.
The weekend’s result continued a theme of being able to score plenty of goals while being unable to keep them out at their own end.
March also scored three last week against Netherton United, but conceded eight.
Davis’ team are without a win since they beat Ketton Ladies 1-0 on April 11.
They will be hoping to pick up a victory in their final game of the season to round things off in positive fashion.
