March Marvels win Cambridgeshire Womens Soft Ball Cricket League

March Marvels, in their first full season, have won the Cambridgeshire Womens Soft Ball Cricket League.

Over 12 games, the club fielded 18 players and won the final festival at Ely to be crowned champions.

The March Town Cricket Club ladies and girls enter unchartered territory next season when they start their first season playing hard ball cricket. Their new hard ball kit bags have been obtained with a £1,500 grant from the Mick George Sports Fund in partnership with Living Sport.

The March Mini Marvels (girls under 11 team) have also played in festivals this season.

The ladies and girls attend coaching sessions every Tuesday night and are arranging winter indoor nets.

They are lead by two coaches in Neil Liversedge and Bill Adamson, who has been named as the Cambridgeshire Coach of the Year.

Club President Les Mills said: “The players have improved all season and their enthusiasm is unbelievable. They have become a very important part of March Town Cricket Club as the ladies games continues to develop.

“On and off the field they are all a credit to the club. Our presentation evening was certainly enhanced by their presence.”
