Some Wisbech Wheelers riders making the most of action they can get

Time trial racers fall into two major groups this year: those who have decided to write the season off due to the virus and those who are determined to get some racing under their wheels.

Wisbech racers 40-plus Phil Lee and 70-plus supervet Roger Sewell fall firmly into the second category and the solitary nature of time trialling lends itself to the circumstances. Both riders were racing last Saturday on the A11 near Attleborough in the CC Breckland 15 mile event in dry but windy conditions.

Lee, one of the biggest riders in the Wisbech club, used his size and power to drive through the head wind and record a 25mph plus average in 34.55 and Sewell was a hair’s breadth outside the magic number 25 with 36.22. This was a strong performance for both, especially for Sewell who is still mixing it with competitors a third of his age and coming off on top.
