LEARN MORELeverington Ladies opened their Cambs League Cup campaign against lower league rivals Chatteris Ladies and picked up the points on offer with a convincing 3-0 win.
With an entire back four missing, the home defence switched to a back three and midfielder Amy Newell again marshalled the makeshift defence.
The home team took the lead midway through the first half when Sophie Swinden fired in a powerful free kick that a visiting defender could only help into the net.
Swinden then doubled the lead when she fired home her second of the game shortly before half time.
The hosts continued to push the visitors back in the second half and despite creating several chances, Chelsea King was the only other goal scorer when she beat the keeper after a great pass from Vicky Vata.
