Leverington Three Counties Running Club team third at Peterborough Green Wheel Relay
A fantastic turn-out by Three Counties Running Club at the Green Wheel Relay on Sunday.
The GWR is into its eighth year with 50 teams taking part this year in its biggest event so far.
A team consists of seven individuals running seven legs of the Green Wheel around Peterborough.
The whole team will cover a total of 50 miles by running the following legs: Leg 1, The Embankment to Eye, 8.3 miles. Leg 2, Eye to Newborough, 4.2 miles. Leg 3, Newborough to Northborough, 6.4 miles. Leg 4, Northborough to Ferry Meadows, 8.2 miles. Leg 5, Ferry Meadows to Norman Cross, 8.6 miles. Leg 6, Norman Cross to Stanground, 7.6 miles. Leg 7, Stanground to The Embankment, 5.7 miles.
Three Counties entered three mixed teams this year and there were 14 in total.
All the teams had fantastic runs, finishing minutes off their predicted finish times.
First team home for the club in third position was Team Norfolk – consisting of Lee Johnson (captain), Amy Baxter, Matt Knott, Gary Ingrey, Sarah Clark, Sarah-Jane Macdonald and Karen Smith – in a fantastic time of 6:25:59, just three minutes off their predicted time.
Next home for the club in 10th place was Team Cambridgeshire – consisting of Steve Rhodes (captain), Debbie Agger, Sarah Johnson, Stewart Harrison, Aaron Petts, Lorraine Parker and Vicki Drake – in a great time of 6:58:47.
Team Lincolnshire were next to cross the line in 11th place – consisting of Antony Coultard (captain), Zoe Gourley, Sarah Melton-Whitelam, Dawn Ball, Kersten Muller, Matt Hunter and Sandra Rhodes – in a fantastic time of 7:05:40.
A massive thank you to the cycle support, who were: Steve Whitelam, Steve Rhodes, Aaron Petts and Lee Johnson and the amazing ‘cheer squad’.
Junior Parkrun had a great turn-out of 44 runners with five TCRC junior members taking part.
First for TCRC was Hayden Hall 9:15; then came Joshua Trundle 9:16, Keira Fines 9:56, Isaac Western 10:55 and Kallum Hall 11:17.
Oliver Knott travelled to King’s Lynn Junior Parkrun and finished in a brilliant time of 12:17.
