Fenland junior football round-up: Leverington teams all win




Leverington Sports moved into the top five of the Peterborough Premier Division with a resounding victory on their travels at the weekend.

Kieran Hamilton bagged a treble and efforts from Jake Gadsden and Louie Garner saw them record a 5-1 success at high-flying Oakham.

There was also a welcome win for Tydd as the bottom club recorded a 2-0 victory over Sawtry Reserves thanks to goals from Jack Minchella and Carlos Costa.

Chatteris Town continued their good form in Division One with Sam Bond, Martin Saunders, and Luke Ackerman all notching goals in a 3-1 home win against FC Peterborough Reserves.

The goals flowed in an incredible ten-goal bonanza between Farcet and Long Sutton Athletic.

Keegan Thorpe (2), Marley Hamilton, Jamal Nyang and James Ward all registered in a 5-5 draw.

Claudiu Simon scored for Wisbech Town Reserves, who went down 2-1 at Netherton United Reserves.

In Division Two, Leverington Sports Reserves moved into a mid-table berth thanks to efforts from Dan Hempson and substitutes Brandon Carpenter and Jake Graham during a 3-0 success over Oakham United Reserves.

Mark Garner and Matthew Wayman were among the goals but it couldn't prevent Sutton Bridge Athletic slipping to a 4-2 loss at Whittlesey Athletic Development.

Long Sutton Athletic Reserves were beaten 1-0 at home by Thorney in Division Three.

FC Hampton A, where Craig Bradshaw, Aaron Hurrell and Mariusz Kudyba all found the back of the net.

There were Cliff Bullen Challenge Cup defeats for both March Town Reserves and Wisbech St Mary.

The Hares' second string suffered a 5-2 reverse at Over Sports, who they host in the league this weekend, where James Rose and Kyle Sharman found the back of the net.

It was a much a closer affair for the Saints, who suffered penalty heartache at home to Newmarket Reserves.

Ben Jimson and Harley Murkin were on the scoresheet for the hosts, who had Bradley Foxwell sent off, as the game ended all-square at 2-2.

It then went down to the lottery of penalties and Saints missed two as they crashed out 4-3 from the spot.

Chatteris Town Reserves were knocked off top spot in 1B following a 2-0 defeat at Benwick Athletic.

Meanwhile, March Town A shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller with Stretham.

Sebastian Goldspink, Robert Munden and Fred Fisher were all on target in the 3-3 draw.

In 2B, third-placed Outwell Swifts picked up an excellent point at league leaders The Eagle (Ely).

Brandon Hedge and Adan-Jay Lewis were the goalscorers in a 3-3 draw.

Mepal and Sutton condemned basement boys Bluntisham Rangers Reserves to a 5-0 defeat in 3B thanks to a hat-trick from George Rayner and goals from Marcin Skowyrski and Jack Garner.

Doddington Three Lions had five different scorers as they secured a 5-1 John Ablett Cup victory over Great Paxton Reserves.

Liam Brady, Ben Fouracre, Ben Conyard, Lee Redhead and Joshua Ingram all found the back of the net in a comfortable passage to the next stage.

In the Cambs Junior Lower Cup, March Town Adults were left with their hands in the sand following a 5-1 defeat at Beach.

March had Toby Conyard on the scoresheet as they suffered an early exit from the competition.

There was also a heavy defeat for Upwell Town in the Norfolk Primary Cup where Ricky Papworth scored in a 6-1 home reverse to West Winch William Burt.

Heavy losses were also the theme of the afternoon for Wisbech St Mary A, Chatteris Town A and Outwell Swifts Res in 4B.

Jaden Carter scored for the Saints, who had Martin Wright sent-off, in a 4-1 loss at Hartford Rangers Reserves while Callum Willoughby registered for Swifts who suffered a 10-1 demolition at home to Alconbury Weston.

Kris Francombe was on the scoresheet for the Lillies in a 7-1 defeat at Guyhirn.

In Division Five North of the Anglian Combination, Dave Abbott and Samuel Gowler were on target as Marshland Saints overcame Gayton United Reserves 2-0.
