Chatteris Town and Leverington Sports both through in Peterborough Senior Cup
Chatteris Town and Leverington Sports progressed to the next round of the Peterborough Senior Cup with victories on Saturday.
Sports won 2-1 at Ramsey Town while the Lilies beat visiting Sawtry 3-2, Sam Bond with his sixth of the season, Dylan James and Casey Stonnell-Fitzgerald on target.
Long Sutton Athletic are fourth from bottom of the Peterborough League Premier Division after an 8-1 beating at Hampton United, sub Jordan Nyang getting the Magpies’ goal.
It was even worse for Wisbech Town Reserves, a place below Sutton, as they were beaten 10-1 at leaders Stamford Belvedere, Harry Ashby netting for the Fenmen.
Sutton Bridge United are top of Division Two after a 5-1 home win over Oakham United Reserves and in the same division Leverington Sports Reserves got their first points of the season with a 4-0 home win against Stamford Belvedere Reserves, Kai Mackie getting two and Alex Albutt and Freddie Dye also on target.
Tydd are through to the next round of the Challenge Cup after beating fellow Division Two outfit Stamford Lions 4-2 on penalties after a 4-4 draw. Jordi Henson, Daniel Cassidy, Tim Magnus and Kai Scott-Henson scored for Tydd, who had both Henson and sub Nick Ainslee sent off for second yellow cards.
Long Sutton Athletic Reserves lost 4-0 at home to Elsea Park Eagles in Division Three while fellow strugglers Leverington Sports A were beaten 4-3 at home to Ramsey Town Reserves, Mariusz Kudyba scoring twice and Dane Kirby also on target.
Wisbech St Mary continue to struggle in the Premier Division of the Cambs County League and lost 4-1 at home to Cambridge University Press, Joe Reed netting.
March Town United Reserves lost for the first time this season, 2-1 at Somersham Town. After a goalless first half, they conceded two goals, the second a contentious penalty, whereas the visitors were denied a spot kick after Connor Cannons appeared to be taken out by the home keeper.
Luca Middleton scored from outside the box with five minutes left but they could not get the equaliser. Manager Kieran Daplyn said: “It was a below-average performance and not up to our usual standards but we still should have got something from the game.”
In the same division, there was a first win of the season for Wimblington, 4-3 at home against Bassingbourn, Sebastian Goldspink getting all four.
Outwell Swifts and March Town A drew 2-2 at home in 1B, Ross Beart and Richard Mills scoring for the home side and the visitors netting with a Konrad Bednarz double. Bottom after three games, Chatteris Town Reserves were beaten 3-1 at The Eagle, Kris Francombe scoring for The Lilies.
Manea United won for the first time this season, 4-2 at home to AFC Mildenhall in 2B, Harry Fox, Matthew Kent, Dylan Venni and Theodore Willis netting. Playing their first league game of the season, Wisbech St Mary Reserves went down 3-2 at Littleport Town, Pawel Kalvzny and sub Billy Barnes scoring.
Wisbech Town Acorns beat Stretham Reserves 3-0, Thomas Mackenzie, Derren Singleton and sub Arpad Vajda scoring. Wimblington Reserves won 3-1 at Brampton and Buckden Reserves, Paul Freear, Michael Randall and sub James Harness scoring.
Outwell Swifts Reserves lost 9-1 at AEK United and Manea United Reserves went down 3-0 at Mepal and Sutton Reserves.
Marshland Saints won 2-1 at Prostar Windows in the First Round of the Norfolk Junior Cup.
