Fenland drivers Jack Maryon and Jade Ellis amongst star performers at stock car racing in King's Lynn
Saturday saw a day of contrasting fortunes for local drivers - with the main event being the UK Open for the Micro Bangers.
Despite having some of Fenland's big names on the grid, none managed a place in the top ten in a race which was won by Doncaster’s Brad White.
Jack Maryon had a decent night later on, with a good performance in the first All Comers race seeing him win an Entertainer Award - and this was cemented with a runner-up spot in the second event.
Ryan Bartram had a runner-up finish in the first All Comers, and he was followed over the line by brother Brad - who also had a fifth place finish in the second race - whilst Jack Licquorice was also amongst the places.
It was a good night for Levi Murkin in the Junior Bangers, who picked up victory in his second heat after coming home in third place in the opening heat and also finished in fourth place in the final - which was won by Mikey Whitehall.
Jade Ellis was in the wars once again, and performed another big rollover but emerged unscathed, whilst Katelyn Parrin - who was competing in her final Junior Banger meeting before age forces retirement - had a good night with two top sixth places.
Brooke Kitson also had a good night in the MiniStox with a third place finish in her heat and a fifth place in the meeting final, which was won by Thomas Rogers.
Meanwhile, the F2 Stock Cars were racing in their World Championship Semi Finals on Sunday at Buxton Raceway in the Peak District.
Manea’s Dave Polley will be pleased with a third place finish in his semi-final which puts him on the fourth row for the World Final, which takes place at King’s Lynn on September 3 and will give him a great chance of winning the one race he has always wanted.
Disappointingly, Reece Cox failed to finish in the top ten of his semi-final - so will have to hope he finishes in the top six of the Consolation semi-final which takes place on World Final night.
Both Polley and Cox will be in action this Saturday (5pm) in King's Lynn.
