For the second time in three weeks Sutton played Bury, with the whole team playing well at the top-of-the-table side.

The visiting team were under pressure early on. Sutton’s outstanding players were the four defenders and the goalie Brad Whitmore; Stef Fox and Harry Synott along with the Tom-Toms; Baguley and Burton. Just before half-time Josh Baker ran into the ‘D’ and earned a short corner. Jacob Synott injected, Tom Baguley stopped and Baker finished against the run of play.

In the second half Bury pushed forward but Sutton were comfortable in defence. The lead could have been doubled if Hagan’s one-on-one with the keeper had played out differently.

Sutton had beaten them away earlier in the season but since then St Ives had moved away from the foot of the table.

Forced into a formation change with the absence of skipper Jo Bland, Sutton’s midfield trio of Gittins, Gittins and Jones worked hard to feed the ball to lone striker Baker. Parr and Walker provided protection for the defence of Burton, Sullivan, White and Cooper.

Walker scored on the rebound, St Ives levelled but, with 22 minutes of the second half gone, MoM Walker slotted home a short corner. Every member of the squad contributed to a great team effort.
