'We let teams steamroller us,' says Beckett after Wisbech St Mary beaten 5-2 by Cornard

Wisbech St Mary manager Stuart Beckett was almost lost for words as his side capitulated to a 13th defeat out of 14 this afternoon.

After watching Saints surrender a 1-0 lead to lose 5-2 against fellow strugglers Cornard, Beckett said: "For 30 minutes we were good, we conceded a silly goal but still got to half time fine, playing well.

"We were the better team in the first half and started well in the second half and then we've been punished big style. We simply cannot keep doing it.

"When you are down there it is hard not to think 'here we go again' when you concede but we've got to roll our sleeves up and give it back a little bit. We let teams steamroller us."

The Saints have a rearranged game next Saturday away at AFC Sudbury Reserves, who are 14th in the table. Beckett added: "They beat us 3-1 here in September, but having said that, they're probably the worst team we've played this season. We have to go there and think we have a chance.

"We know we're in a scrap but we've just got to do everything we can to stop us getting relegated."
