The annual three day sports festival was held at March Town Cricket Club on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

This is the 14th year the festival has been held.

The sports coaches offered the children the opportunity to learn and practise numerous sporting skills, namely cricket, football, athletics, hockey and boxing.

The large marquee was put to good use at lunchtimes and during the day due to the hot sunny weather.

On the last day the children also all enjoyed the numerous bouncy castles provided by Kirby Castles.

Over 75 local boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 years attended and enjoyed the festival.

On the Friday evening, after the heavy storm, the children returned with their parents to the presentation evening and collected from junior section chairman Bill Crumly their goody bags which included a Fenmarc baseball cap, medal on a ribbon, certificate, pen, tennis ball and sweets.

Club chairman Les Mills said: “Thanks to all our coaches, assistant coaches and helpers. It was hard work due to the exceptionally hot weather but they helped numerous children have a great start to their summer holidays.

“Finally, a special thanks to all our sponsors, including Fenmarc and Fenland District Council (Active Fenland Coordinator).”
