March Town and Wisbech Town kick off their 2022/23 league campaigns tomorrow afternoon.

The Hares make their United Counties League Premier Division South debut on Saturday with a trip to Bugbrooke St Michaels, while the Fenmen return to Step 5 with a home UCL Premier Division North clash against AFC Mansfield.

March boss Ashley Taylor will be without summer signing Sam Murphy, who injured his ankle on Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper Charlie Congreve will also be missing through injury, while Ben Matthews and Drew Barker join him on the sidelines.

Eoin McQuaid has returned to the Hares fold, but is only fit enough to turn out for the reserve side this weekend.

Taylor told the Citizen: "We want three points (on Saturday). That’s the mentality, we want to have a good start.

"It’s going to be a tough game, but we’re looking forward to it. We’re taking a coach with players and supporters, so we’ll have a good amount of support at the game."

Meanwhile, new Wisbech manager Leon Mettam will have a young squad for tomorrow's opening day fixture - with the boss aiming to bring more players in after the season has started.

While he remains optimistic, he did say: "It’s not going to be easy, but the lads that I have seen are willing to run through brick walls for me at the minute.

"It might be a slow start. I wouldn’t want to put unnecessary pressure on myself to come out swinging."

Elsewhere, Parson Drove welcome Warboys for another pre-season friendly.

Arran Duke's men kick off their Thurlow Nunn First Division North campaign on August 13 against Haverhill Borough.
