March Golf Club ladies Members and Friends day winner settled by one shot

March Golf Club ladies held an enjoyable Members and Friends day and 28 ladies took part from March, Girton, Hunstanton, Dereham, Lakeside and St Ives.

The nearest the pin on 2nd/11th holes was won by Maria Fox from Dereham; nearest the pin on 6th/15th was won by Aly Wise from Hunstanton; and nearest the line was won by Gail Johnson from March.

The team just beaten into second place by one shot with 78 points was Brenda Softley, Jo Rowlett (March) and Teresa Layton/ Aly Wise from Hunstanton. The winners were Pam Hawes, Georgie Millett (March) and Sandi Carrington/ Angela Storey from St Ives with 79 points.

A great day ended by a lovely meal in the clubhouse.

The Ladies played in The Dunham Cup on Thursday. Emma Norman was the winner going out in 49 and coming in with 42. She scored four pars ending with a nett 79. In second place was Pam Hawes with nett 82 and in third Pam Wallis with nett 85.

The Presidents Day was held on Sunday which was a glorious sunny day. Some 36 men and seven ladies took part in an individual stableford competition.

The nearest the pin on the 9th/18th for the men was won by Gary Neugebauer. Nearest the pin on 6th/15th for the ladies was won by Jo Rowlett.

The mens' competition was won by Peter Coventry with 37 points beating Sean Edwards in second place, also with 37 points; and third was Stephen Campbell with 36.

The winner of the ladies was Emma Norman with a score of 40 points, second was Jo Rowlett with 30 points and in third Sandra Russell with 26.

A great day was had by all and finished with a meal and presentation of prizes by the president Richard Cannell in the clubhouse.
