Master swim duo compete at British Championships in squad
Two March Marlin Master swimmers competed at the British Masters Long Course Championships in Plymouth as part of a squad of seven.
The group finished in a fantastic ninth place out of 202 teams in the Cupar Cup.
Garry Mavin brought home a silver medal in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle. The latter race earned Mavin an East Region record.
Martyn Fresher gained silver in the 50m breaststroke and positioned fourth in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
Continuing the success, Mavin, Fresher, Liz Woolner and Sarah Aldridge won gold as a mixed team in the 4x50m relays which resulted in the group reclaiming the East Region record in the 4x50m freestyle.
The final medal count for Team Anglia was 24, consisting of 10 gold, nine silver and five bronze, plus they achieved a brilliant seven East Region records.
The squad are now aiming for the British Short Course Championships taking place in Sheffield in October.
From the Marlin Masters to the Marlin younger swimmers, who competed at the Mini gala in Peterborough on Saturday. Out of 31 individual races, 26 were personal bests (PB).
First up, Matthew Cumbridge gained PB times in the 25m breaststroke and 25m butterfly, with Gracie Moule matching PBs in her 25m breaststroke and 25m freestyle.
Ela Lynes repeated this pattern, gaining her best times alongside Cameron Dickerson in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, Mason Ambrose in the 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly, Alice Camplin in the 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke, Harry Rickard in the 25m freestyle and 25m backstroke, Connor Rickard in the 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke, and Bobbi Cottam in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.
Other PB times came from Mason Nicholls, Hannah Camplin, Ruby Saunders, Devon O’Neill, Theo Liversedge, Joshua Southwell and Samuel Sobolevs.
