Thorney and Oakley the destinations for March athletes




March Athletic Club runners were taking on a much-loved local race, the Thorney 10k.

The athletes were presented with tough conditions with a strong breeze during the race, but it didn't stop the runners from achieving strong results.

Andrew Jakeman led the way for the club and finished seventh in the race and third place in his age category with a time of 33:03.

Mark Godfrey, Andy Cole, and Tim Brammer all had strong runs earning Sub40 finishes in the event.

Henrik Stoner was next to cross the finish line with a PB time of 41:01.

Toni Alcaraz led the way for the ladies in 42:24 with another fantastic performance on the course.

Tricia Cole was second for the ladies in 50:52 with Victoria May closely after in 51:27 - a PB.

Elsewhere, March AC was present at the Oakley 20-mile race.

Club coach Mike Blackledge continued his string of strong performances with a time of 2:55:38 with Michelle Prior and Oliver Goodwin shortly after in 2:56:25.

Alan Brown crossed the finish line in just over 3 hours as the long-distance superstar showed his determination once again.

Sam Hodson was the second lady back for the club in 3:20:52 followed by Craig McPherson and Sonia Witham.
