Wisbech Tennis Club getting two new courts

Work on two new tar courts at Wisbech Tennis Club has started and is expected to take around 10 weeks to complete.

This will give players a choice of surfaces to play on, alongside the two existing all-weather artificial clay courts, built in 2014.

Club member John Jewson has helped with the initial ground works free of charge and the club is very grateful for his support.

This latest project is possible due to a great deal of hard work from committee members in securing funding from a number of different sources, including Amey, Cambs LTA, Robert Hall Trust and Sport England.

The club is also contributing more than £25,000, raised from member subs and fundraising.

Finals Day Singles and Plate Championships will be held on Sunday, September 13, starting at 10.30am with the Plate Finals, followed at 12.30pm with the Ladies and Men’s Singles Finals. In the afternoon at 3 there will be a Fed-style Tournament to finish the proceedings.

The club’s annual meeting will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 4pm in the club’s car park to enable social distancing. Everyone is welcome. For further information on the club see: wisbechtennisclub.org.uk
