Wisbech banger ace Licquorice aims for Icebreaker British Open team success at King’s Lynn Adrian Flux Arena
Local banger fans have something to look forward to at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena this Sunday (12 noon) when the first of the out-of-season “Icebreaker” British Open Team Championships take place.
The first Icebreaker which takes place on Sunday is the must-do Unlimited Banger session.
This is one of the longest running Unlimited Banger team competitions in the sport and will be taking place for the 27th year running.
With a fantastic history this meeting has struggled for numbers in recent years and has seen support formulas introduced, but promoters Trackstar are delighted to announce that for the first time in nearly a decade this will be an all-Unlimited Banger affair such has been the massive demand for Unlimited bookings. The 42-team entry marks a massive 80 percent increase in the Unlimited Banger entry compared to 12 months ago!
Some of the sport’s biggest teams are engaged for battle and, with multi team entries between the warring Stinkbridge, Blooz Boyz, Shunters and TMT Teams, the action is certain to come hard and fast!
Wisbech’s James Licquorice will be providing the local interest in Sunday’s event.
Licquorice is racing with the predominantly southern-based Dover Boys.
He will be looking to impress following an exceptional 2019 where he gained national attention after some great performances in which he showed he can crash and race with the best of them in all forms of National Bangers.
Several entertainer awards were won by James throughout last season as he propelled himself to third place in the entertainers’ league – an amazing feat when one considers 544 different drivers competed in the league!
He was also a regular race winner throughout the season in all classes of National Bangers, including the Unlimited Bangers, and it will be interesting to see if the Dover Boys go out to win the general points or the entertainer points on Sunday as Licquorice will be a pivotal performer for whichever competition the team looks to win.
