Greenwood wins latest Tydd Gote match
There was another good turn out for Tydd Gote AC’s Sunday club match with over 20 anglers lining the banks.
But for the second week running, the bream refused to feed with all the leading weights, comprising of roach, skimmers and perch. Archie Greenwood was on end peg 35 and after spending a fruitless 45 minutes searching for the bream, came onto his 8m line and immediately started catching roach to pinkie over groundbait, some of them a good quality.
By the end, by alternating lines and feed, Archie put 6lb 6oz on the scales for a narrow win over John Taylor.
John was peg 19 and took roach, skimmers and perch, mostly on his long line, for 6lb 2oz and second spot, Phil Thrower in third with a 5lb 4oz mixed net from peg 15.
Anglers pegged in the rushes were all troubled by pike, John Taylor, Phil Thrower and Gerald Rockett all losing several fish to the predators, John Bates hooking one big fish estimated at 20lb, and Steve Borrett landing one of around 8lb on his pinkie rig.
Wednesday Open: 1 Pete Emery 10lb 7oz 2; John Taylor 9lb 8oz; 3 Steve Hansed 9lb 1oz.
