Two signings as Wisbech unveil new kits

Wisbech Town have made two new signings on the eve of their first competitive game of the season this Saturday.

Central defender Marvin Emmanuel (19) and goalkeeper James Goff (21) will both feature in the squad to play at Haverhill Rovers in the preliminary round of the FA Cup.

"Luke Pearson has picked up an injury and we don't want to rush him back, so James has come in," said manager Brett Whaley this evening. "He was out for a while with a knee injury and has been with St Ives during pre-season.

"He was previously at Northampton Town as a professional and is working his way back. He will be starting Saturday. (Reserve keeper) Dan Kimber has done a great job for us but it would be too big a step up for him at the moment.

"Marvin trialled for us on Tuesday night against Peterborough Sports and played well. He comes from Stevenage and has been training with Sports but was unable to break into their first team.

"He is quick and pacey and he has the height and physical presence we need."

The Fenmen also unveiled their new kits this evening, the home kit the traditional all red, and with a black trim.

But there is a change with the new away kit, which has black and white vertical striped shirts and black shorts. The kit is to celebrate the club's 2020 centenary as its very first change kit in 1920 was based on Newcastle's home kit.

As Haverhill traditionally play in all-red, it is the away kit which should feature on Saturday.
